MAY 2013

Hidden Gems of Powerscourt Tour

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Powerscourt Gardens with Michael Seery, a local history enthusiast and founder of the Enniskerry Local History Blog. Michael will show you the hidden gems of Powerscourt and provide plenty of interesting anecdotes along the way! Discover the kitchen gardens at Powerscourt and learn about the food from that era. Uncover the trees that Princess Grace and Jackie Onassis once planted. Come along and enjoy!

Summer Bedding

Cost: Free of charge, no booking required
Get a blaze of colour in your Hanging Baskets and Window Boxes! Come along to the Pavilion and get advice on preparing summer bedding including what soil mixes and fertilisers to choose. Test your creative skills with suggestions for colour schemes and combinations. Learn about aftercare - pinching out, hardening off, watering and feeding plants.

The Gathering in Enniskerry

Celebrate 'The Gathering' and enjoy a action filled weekend with friends, family and overseas visitors in Enniskerry village, The Gathering festival takes place on 24th, 25th and 26th of May and will include live music, street performers, story-telling with Cathy Kelly, children's games, a historical walking tour and much more. Guided Walk with Robert Myerscough

To celebrate the summer season at Powerscourt, we are delighted Robert Myerscough will be with us for a guided walk of the gardens. Robert is President of the 'Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland' and a committee member of 'The Irish Tree Society' and the 'Tours Committee of the International Dendrology Society.' We look forward to an interesting walk and talk with Robert!

Bee Keeping with Philip Mc Cabe

Date: 12th June

Philip is a native of County Louth and one of Ireland's best known bee-keepers. On 'Mooney Goes Wild' Philip keeps the nation up to date, not only with his beloved bees, but on all of the social insects. On June 25th 2005, Philip attempted a world bee beard record attempt, when he attempted to attract 500,000 bees onto himself! Join Philip for a chat about bee-keeping in Ireland today and see how you can get involved.

Be Active - Get Fit for Cancer Support 7k at Powerscourt

Take part in this unique opportunity to run in the grounds of the historical Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry Co. Wicklow on Saturday 6th July 2013. 100% of the entry fee goes to Cancer Support Services in Leinster provided by Bray Cancer Support Centre. Following the run, you can celebrate with family and friends, while enjoying a BBQ and music. Your family will also have the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of Powerscourt Estate, by taking part in our 3KM family walk, which takes place within the grounds of the Estate.

Behind Powerscourt House and Gardens lies a fascinating history. This summer, why not join Lady Powerscourt as she invites you to explore the grounds of her beautiful home? Delight in a wealth of stories from those mythical and historical character you meet along the way using a special map as your guide. Look out for mysterious shadows as you pass by Tower Valley, pay a visit to the enigmatic Japanese Gardens and don't forget to complete your journey by adding your own special creation to the Fairy Tree. Join Imaginosity, Dublin Children's Museum for this interactive and creative story-telling experience.

Vintage Car Rally at Powerscourt Estate (Heritage Week)

Join Ireland’s largest motor club, the Irish Vintage and Veteran Car Club (IVVCC), for their 36th run at Powerscourt. Chat with motor enthusiasts and marvel at the stylish array of vintage vehicles at the event. Everyone is welcome to come dressed to impress in their best vintage clothes! 'The Selfish Giant' at Powerscourt Waterfall (Heritage Week)

Imaginosity, Dublin Children's Museum, will be bringing Oscar Wilde's classic children's story 'The Selfish Giant' to life this Heritage Week. On August 24th, families are invited to take part in an interactive re-telling of this story of an unusual friendship and a lesson learned. Help us to re-create the playful atmosphere of the Giant's Garden with a whole host of outdoor games such as sack-racking, hula-hopping and parachute fun.

Children's Activities at the Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt

The Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt has some fantastic events lined up for little ones in the coming months. Fancy a camping holiday from the comfort of your own room with a midnight feast?
